As the rains began to move into Southern Kenya early in October, I was graciously allowed to participate in two separate Bridges field trainings in this beautiful country.  Our advanced “Bridges 2” training for animistic cultures was held in Nairobi by one of our strategic national partners, Lifeway Missions International, with a visionary leader. “Bridges 1 for Neighbors,” designed for Muslims, was held next in a rural area on the Swahili Coast with a Lifeway facilitator from a nearby village.

The Bridges participants were a mix of men and women from a variety of backgrounds (both Muslim Background Believers and Christian Background Believers) with a passion and heart for reaching their own people with the power of God’s Story.  Many of them are on their way to becoming “Master Storytellers” and starting their own Oral Bible and Training Centers for launching disciple-making in their oral cultures.  Picking the “Right” story to present to an unbeliever or young believer is how many of them will be sharing the gospel.  May it be so Lord!

I was also greatly blessed to spend much time with our SIU Africa Regional Director and Lead Trainer, Mike, who has spent the last decade building relationships of trust and ministering to the resourceful people and tribal groups of Africa.  Mike is a Master Storyteller, loves Jesus, and loves being in Africa reaching the unreached.  It’s an honor and privilege to serve with this man of God and we pray for much influence with our national partners, like Lifeway, in Africa.

A little bit more about Lifeway Missions International: Founded in Kenya in 1998 , Lifeway has a beautiful one acre, multi-building training facility that draws in leaders and grass roots church planters from all over East Africa. Lifeway now has a presence in 10 surrounding African countries outside of Kenya and is a leader in Orality training, with a plan to reach 42 local tribal UPG (Unreached People Groups)and approximately 300 UPGs across Kenya and 10 neighboring countries.  God has provided all of this growth in a short period of time with His miraculous hand of providence and provision.
