We Are Starving

Many of our Scriptures In Use (SIU) ministry partners in Asia and Africa are facing immediate food shortages and starvation in their families and communities due to ongoing issues related to COVID-19 and quarantine.

More examples of what we are hearing from our partners:

One of our SIU partners had not eaten in five days and was wondering if they were going to have a next meal.

A partner told us that since being on lockdown in their country, they are going through a severe crisis: people are struggling, dying due to starvation with no income and so no food…and the children are the most affected victims.

Another partner wrote “In these days we have lots of struggles. People can’t go anywhere, even to purchase food. We helped some church families with our own money, we bought rice and daal.”

Our Response

This is heartbreaking news and we feel we cannot stand by and not help in some way. We are praying much for our partners and feel the Holy Spirit guiding us to be as generous as we can in this time of need, following our Lord’s gracious and compassionate nature.

To meet these urgent needs, we have emptied our Scriptures In Use benevolence fund to help our trusted, proven partners. We also want to extend the opportunity to each of you to consider giving to this effort by clicking here. Or mail your gift to:

With memo line: “Immediate SIU Partner Relief”

Gratitude

One of our partners who has already received relief funds from the SIU benevolence fund expressed the impact of this special gift:

“Thousands of people are away from home locked down in the cities where they have migrated to for work. They have not been able to get back home. Many pastors have reported that believers from their congregations have not been able to get back because of the lockdown issued nationwide.

I am inviting everyone to pray and give for their security and access to basic needs of survival. The women at home are praying for their loved ones to come back home safely. Families are kept apart at this time. They need our prayers.

Our Foundation is reaching out across our region to empower churches to reach out to migrants stuck away from home. We are mobilizing them and enabling them to come alongside the government agencies in their region and support them. In doing this we are serving those who need our support the most.

We are deeply indebted to you for sending us funding for people who are in anguish, pain and starving without food!” -Ministry Leader in India

The Hands and Feet of Christ

Thank you for your prayers for our brothers and sisters around the world. And thank you for considering a generous gift to help provide some relief.

I would love to hear from you. What are some ways you are finding to serve your community during this global crisis?
